Phyllis Queskekapow is an accomplished Artist whose passion for traditional indigenous sewing has been honed over many years. Born and raised in Norway House Manitoba, treaty 5, Phyllis grew up watching her mother and older sister create beautiful and functional pieces such as mukluks, moccasins, purses, and mittens. She was fascinated by the intricate details and the care that went into each piece.
Phyllis is deeply committed to preserving and sharing her culture's traditional practices. She hopes to pass on her knowledge to her grandchildren and other interested individuals. For Phyllis, the joy of sewing comes not just from creating beautiful pieces but from being able to connect with her heritage and pass it down to future generations. Her art is a testament to the enduring beauty and strength of indigenous culture.
