WHAT YOU WILL DO

The eCommerce Manager is the operational and commercial hub of Manitobah's online retail business, responsible for the day-to-day performance, presentation, and continuous improvement of Manitobah's Shopify storefronts. This role owns the full eCommerce execution layer — ensuring the customer journey from first click to checkout is seamless, on-brand, and optimized for conversion — while also leading the go-to-market process for new product launches and seasonal campaigns.

The eCommerce Manager leads a small, focused team and directs Manitobah's third-party Shopify development agency. The primary focus of this role is Manitobah's DTC storefronts (Canadian and US), with secondary oversight of the B2B/wholesale portal.

LOCATION

This position is hybrid/remote. The incumbent will be required to report to our Headquarters, located at The Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba as directed.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Sr. VP of Sales and Marketing.

Key Relationships: E-commerce, marketing teams, external vendors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the day-to-day management and performance of Manitobah's Shopify Plus storefronts — Canadian DTC, US DTC, and B2B/wholesale portal.
  • Oversee the end-to-end product upload process — ensuring all new products are accurately set up, classified, tagged, described, imaged, priced, and published to the correct storefronts on schedule.
  • Develop and maintain product taxonomy, ensuring collections, tags, filters, and search are structured to support discoverability and a logical customer journey.
  • Execute and continuously optimize on-site merchandising — including collection sequencing, featured product placement, cross-selling, upselling, and bundling strategies — to drive average order value and sell-through.
  • Lead the eCommerce go-to-market process for all new product launches, seasonal drops, and promotional campaigns.
  • Own the CRO program for Manitobah's DTC storefronts — maintaining an active testing roadmap that targets conversion rate, add-to-cart rate, checkout completion, and average order value.
  • Use analytics, heatmapping, session recording, and funnel data to form hypotheses and prioritize tests, and report on results with clear recommendations.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Advanced knowledge of concepts, principles, methods and techniques of eCommerce, including Shopify platform.
  • Strong familiarity with front-end concepts including HTML, CSS, and Shopify Liquid —must be able to read, review, and communicate clearly with developers about front-end work.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively while working with cross-functional teams internally and externally in a fast-paced environment.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in eCommerce, encompassing both eCommerce management, is required.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience managing a Shopify or Shopify Plus store is required.
  • Experience owning or co-owning eCommerce-related budgets, including tools, agency spend, and operational costs, is required.

Educational Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Digital Commerce, or a related discipline is required.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • May require long periods at a desk, reading lengthy documents, and time in front of a computer.
  • This is a hybrid role based out of Manitobah's Headquarters in Winnipeg, MB, Canada; candidates must be able to report to Headquarters when directed.
