Heather Endall is a Cree artist who expresses her creativity through diverse, tactile mediums such as sewing, painting, and beading. With a background in classical piano and a Fine Arts Degree from the University of Manitoba, her work is influenced by iconic artists and her First Nations Cree heritage.
About the Art
The artwork depicts a scene where life-giving water is represented through the sky, with falling rain and snow. Trees on the left symbolize the Woodland People while the western mountains on the right represent a doorway for modern hunter-gatherers. Fire is portrayed as a symbol of the People's ability to survive.
The prairie plains in the background are home to the Great Horse and Buffalo People. The swirling Four Winds signify a cleansing process as the sun circles Mother Earth. Overall, the artwork showcases the importance of nature and the connection between humans and the natural world.
