About the Artist:

Nickie Isaksen was born in Paamiut, south Greenland. Her mother is Greenlandic Inuit and her father is Danish. Nickie grew up in her early childhood in the capital of Greenland, Nuuk. When she was a big girl, she moved with her mother to Denmark. Here she graduated from the Academy of bespoke tailoring in Aarhus back in 1995 and in year 2000 she graduated with a BaHons from London college of fashion. Nickie Isaksen returned to Copenhagen after her graduation in London and started her own brand label ISAKSEN design together with her mum Rita Isaksen in 2002. During 5 years between 2010-2015 Nickie Isaksen was the head designer of Great Greenland Furhouse, designing garments in sealskin and accessories in seal leather and skin. Today, Nickie Isaksen is the head designer and owner of 3 design labels, MIKISOQ (kids wear), G-LAND (street wear) and ISAKSEN (women and men’s fashion)

About the Art:

“The philosophy behind ISAKSEN Design is to create unique, quality, functional, graphic and timeless designs inspired by Greenlandic heritage. I was inspired to do my print art work that is used for the mukluks from my childhood memories of my beloved Inuit grandparents. My Grand-dad using the qajaq (kayak) for hunting and my grandma using the Ulo for preparing meats/cooking and our traditional Greenlandic costume. The print art work represents, to me,  the beauty of Inuit men and women.” - Nickie Isaksen

Excellent boots

Really love the looks and the warmth of these boots. They are a bit tighter at the top than the other ones I have so they stay up. The inside are very warm and have a comfortable sole. Love them.
