About the Artist: Brenda Dowedoff was born in Neepawa, Manitoba and raised in Ste.Rose du Lac, Manitoba. She now resides in Grand Forks, BC. Brenda has been creating contemporary jewelry, paintings and sewing for 30 years. Brenda’s grandmothers were ceramic artists and quilters. Her artwork is inspired by her mother; she was taught to sew when she was very young. Her mother was a textile and jewelry artist, specializing in gold and silver wire wrapped jewelry. Brenda grew up surrounded by creative people and always had a love for art, music and playing with different mediums. She learned to sew from her mother and is mostly self taught, Brenda also picked up some beading techniques from other Metis artists. When Brenda is not creating, she is playing the piano and baking.
