About the Artist: Brenda is of Metis descent, born in Neepawa, Manitoba. From a young age, she was taught by her mother how to sew, which then expanded her love for art and music. Brenda specializes in creating contemporary jewelry, artwork and sewing for the past 30 years. Brenda was influenced to become an artist by her father, he encouraged her artistic expression and music growing up. “I love bold, bright colors. I'm drawn to Ojibwe style Woodland Art because of the bold colors and story telling. I try to incorporate it into some of my work, I like to use traditional patterns but modernize them with bold contrasting colors”. Alongside her artistry, today, Brenda’s hobbies include playing the piano and baking.
