Kaiahtenhtas' Story: Kaiahtenhtas Thompson, is a Mohawk from the
Wolf clan. Born and raised in Akwesasne, a community that encompasses Ontario, Quebec and New York State. She moved to Squamish, British Columbia in high school, and is now in the NITEP program at UBC, living in both the West and East Coast depending on the time of year. At a young age Kaiahtenhtas found joy in creating, when she was six years old, her Ista (Marlana Thompson Baker) taught her how to bead, and from there she has been adapting and growing her talent into her own style. Kaiahtenhtas likes to take natural elements and work them into her creations, taking traditions and teachings, and turning it into wearable culture with a modern twist.
